Let’s be honest, when we think of Black-owned businesses we often think of mom and pop start-ups, barber shops, beauty salons or possibly even record labels – small operations with very few employees. Perhaps we think of people like Jay Z or Sean “Diddy” Combs ?? Entertainment moguls living lavish lifestyles.
Did you know that there are actually Black-owned businesses that are employing hundreds, even thousands of people and generating annual sales of $100 million – even billions?!
Now, I am not being condescending towards owners of small businesses nor discrediting the successes of Jay Z or Puffy. I absolutely applaud them for taking destiny in their own hands and achieving financial independence, but this article can hopefully be inspirational for those who already have their own business or looking to start their own business.
