Azealia Banks will be heading back to the studio soon, as XXL reports that she officially has a record deal to start off the new year.
“I’m now officially signed to E1 Entertainment!!” she wrote in the caption for her Instagram post, which includes audio of her celebrating her obvious win. “I HAVE A HOME AGAIN… I’m crying . The Industry left me out on the street like a stray dog and now I have shelter again. This is really making me cry I’m so happy and grateful and thankful for all of this and I promise I’m going to make the KUNTS so proud. Thank you guys so freaking much you don’t know how much this means to me @eone_music @williamrobillardcole.” In a follow-up post, she thanked her fans for her success, while acknowledging that how her origins in a broken home led her to this point.
This is a better start for 2018 than many anticipated for Banks, considering she publically threatened to sue Wendy Williams earlier this year. Here is our past coverage of that event:
“Williams implied that the rapper was a prostitute on a live broadcast, which set things off. “Now we understand how she gets her money,” Williams said during her “Hot Topics” segment. “She’s got no kids and she’s 26, with a vaginal rejuvenation? Wow. she works hard for her money.” Banks later admitted that she actually cried over the statements, but sometime between her hearing the comments and making a public response, that sadness turned into anger.
Nearly one week later, Banks posted a meme of Williams on Instagram. “The last five years taught me when you’re an Azealia Banks stan, you can make it thru anything,” the meme stated. Banks followed the post with a message in the caption. “TOUGH AS STEEL… Wendy is getting sued top of 2018,” Banks wrote. It’s not clear exactly what the lawsuit would be about, but likely something to do with defamation.
However, Banks does have some limits, including publically apologizing to Beyoncé for calling her a thief and insulting the Lemonade album. “I apologize for throwing tantrums in the past. They totally came from a place of feeling left out,” she wrote. “You’ve inspired so much of the way I think about/value you myself as a performer and I ADORE you. Your presence in the art world and on earth is supernatural and am so so so inspired by you.”
“YOU DESERVE THE BEST. You deserve the finest things in life AND FINEST ART the art world has to offer. What’s mine is yours… anything you want of my art, etc YOU CAN HAVE,” she continued. “I would give you the clothes off of my back girl!! Thank you for always making the little black girl in me smile. You’ve truly always been a beacon of light for me and I’m so so humbled by this. Love, Azealia.” Beyoncé had no response.”
