Ryan Mack is a highly-respected financial expert out of New York City. He has traveled to hundreds of cities and give thousands of speeches about the importance of understanding money and how it works.
Mack, in this video, goes into a series of venues, explaining why we all need to understand financial literacy. I agree with him, because Financial Literacy is the thing that corporate America does NOT want you to have. A financially literate person isn’t going to be tricked into going deep into credit card debt. A person with financial literacy isn’t going to live paycheck-to-paycheck or run to the mall every time someone tells them that it’s Black Friday.
Part of financial freedom starts with your own desire to have freedom of thought and action, where you aren’t giving your money away every time a corporation or bank tells you to do so. Do you think it’s an accident that most high schools don’t teach financial literacy? Seriously, think about it: They spend all their time teaching a bunch of things that kids are never going to use in their lives, but when it comes to the things they need to know, like how to buy a house, they suddenly don’t have time for that. I personally believe that this is not a mere coincidence.
Ryan is a close personal friend of mine and someone I respect immensely. Please check out his video and give me your thoughts. The question I’d like to ask for today is, “Why do you think most schools don’t teach financial literacy?”
