Why black people waste so much money: Dr Amos Wilson explains

Dr Amos Wilson is one of the great thinkers of all-time. In this video, he talks about what he refers to as “the mis-spending of money.” He says that spending money is meant to compensate for pain and low self-esteem. He says that this self-hatred causes us to take our money and give it right back to the people who gave money to us in the first place.

Wilson also says that many of us seek to buy the approval of whites by purchasing their products, and although we have enough money to build our own banking system, there is typically very little interest in building financial institutions in the African American community.
